                       MATING RECOMMENDATIONS

Northern Dancer line mares are obvious mates for Spendabuck's Luck with the Storm Bird/Storm Cat, Nijinsky II, and Vice Regent/Deputy Minister branches the most intriging. Spend a Buck has 8 G1 winners, 4 champions from the Northern Dancer line mares, Ghadeer by Lyphard mares produced 6 of the G1 winners and 3 of the champions. Secreto by Northern Dancer out of a Secretariat mare produced Hard Buck. Spendabuck's Luck's dam is by Globe a son of Secretariat.  Northern Dancer line is a proven cross with Spend a Buck, which produced Einstein and many others.

Mr. Prospector line mares are also a good cross for Spendabuck's Luck. Mares from the Seeking the Gold, Miswaki and Woodman branches could be a great cross all three are bred on the Mr. Prospector/Buckpasser cross. This reinforces the Buckpasser influence in a similar way to the at least 133 stakes winners that show Buckpasser on the top of the pedigree and Mr. Prospector and Buckpasser together on the bottom side. Combined Woodman, Seeking the Gold and Miswaki are involved in 81 of the stakes winners. Mares by the Danzig son Exchange Rate, should also be considered. He's out of a Seeking the Gold mare and has done very well as a sire with a return of Buckpasser.

Other Buckaroo line stallions haven't performed well so far with the Fappiano branch of the Mr. Prospector tree. However, mares from the Unbridled line, especially through Unbridled’s Song, may prove to be the exception with Spendabuck's Luck. This is based on the presence of Prince John in Spendabuck's Luck’s pedigree, Prince John and Unbridled are found together in the pedigrees of some 24 stakes winners, 19 graded, including Birdstone and Midshipman by Unbridled’s Song. Spendabuck's Luck has Princequillo 5S X 5D and Nasrullah 5S X 5D X 5D another reason this cross may do well.

The Buckaroo over Storm Bird/Storm Cat cross is starting to take form. Spend A Buck has sired a multiple Group 1 winner out of a Storm Bird mare and the cross has a North American stakes winner. Montbrook a Buckaroo son sired a stakes winner out of a daughter of Storm Creek, a Storm Cat son out of a Mr. Prospector mare. This opens the door for daughters and granddaughters of other stallions bred on this cross like Tale of the Cat and Pure Prize out of a Seeking the Gold mare. Montbrook’s son Chapel Royal is the sire of the 2009 Grade 2 winner Advice out of a mare by Hennessy, making mares by him and his sons like Johannesburg second dam by Mr. Prospector and Cactus Ridge out of a Mr. Prospector granddaughter are worth considering. Spend a Buck sired Champion and Horse of the year Black Coffey out of a Storm bird mare.

Buckpasser over Vice Regent has produced at least seven stakes winners, including two out of mares by Silver Deputy out of a Mr. Prospector mare. One of those is a Grade 2 winner.

Seven different Buckpasser line stallions including Spend A Buck have sired at least 14 stakes winners out of In Reality line mares. Montbrook has sired at least four of those, three out of Valid Appeal mares, including two Grade 3 winners. Mares by Valid Appeal’s son Successful Appeal might be considered for Spendabuck's Luck.

Grey Dawn II / Herbager line mares may go well with Spendabuck's Luck,   Spend a Buck sired Pico Central $1,283,143 G1 SW out of a daugther of Purple Mountain son of Grey Dawn II and there has been at least 21 Graded Stakes Winners with Buckpasser on top and Herbager on bottom.

Seattle Slew line mares may be a good cross to Spendabuck's Luck, mares from the  A.P. Indy or Slew O' Gold lines looking most interesting they carry Seattle Slew on top and Buckpasser on bottom. There have been at least 9 Graded Stakes Winners from this cross of Buckpasser on top and Seattle Slew on the bottom, this would also bring a return of Buckpasser with this cross.
